چکیده

1. Additional Details for Wigner PSFs The Wigner Distribution Function (WDF) is a joint representation of space and spatial frequency. It can be considered as the local frequency spectrum of the signal [2]. Spatial frequencies are linked to the direction of propagation θ of light rays as u = sin θ λ . Hence, the WDF is sometimes also referred to as the ray spread function. It has been explored in the context of physical optics [3, 1, 2] and also geometric optics or light fields [9, 7]. The effect of an aperture with transmittance t(ν) on an incident WDF corresponds to the transformation of the WDF at the aperture plane: Wo (ν, u) = 1 2π ∫ Wt (ν, u− ui)Wi (ν, ui) dui, (1)

Clouds in the Cloud

Light-field imaging can be scaled up to a very large area, to map the Earth’s atmosphere in 3D. Multiview spaceborne instruments suffer low spatio-temporal-angular resolution, and are very expensive and unscalable. We develop sky light-field imaging, by a wide, scalable network of wide-angle cameras looking upwards, which upload their data to the cloud. This new type of imaging-system poses new...

Modified light field architecture for reconfigurable multimode imaging

Light field cameras can simultaneously capture the spatial location and angular direction of light rays emanating from a scene. By placing a variable bandpass filter in the aperture of a light field camera, we demonstrate the ability to multiplex the visible spectrum over this captured angular dimension. The result is a novel design for a single-snapshot multispectral imager, with digitally rec...

High numerical aperture tabletop soft x-ray diffraction microscopy with 70-nm resolution.

Light microscopy has greatly advanced our understanding of nature. The achievable resolution, however, is limited by optical wavelengths to approximately 200 nm. By using imaging and labeling technologies, resolutions beyond the diffraction limit can be achieved for specialized specimens with techniques such as near-field scanning optical microscopy, stimulated emission depletion microscopy, an...

Reinterpretable Imager: Towards Variable Post-Capture Space, Angle and Time Resolution in Photography

We describe a novel multiplexing approach to achieve tradeoffs in space, angle and time resolution in photography. We explore the problem of mapping useful subsets of time-varying 4D lightfields in a single snapshot. Our design is based on using a dynamic mask in the aperture and a static mask close to the sensor. The key idea is to exploit scene-specific redundancy along spatial, angular and t...

Optical Microscopy Beyond the Diffraction Limit: Imaging Guided and Propagating Fields

Diffraction limits standard optical microscopy to a spatial resolution of about half the wavelength of light. We present novel microscopy techniques for imaging semiconductor materials and devices at better than diffraction-limited spatial resolution and observe previously inaccessible phenomena. We discuss the methods and results for Numerical Aperture Increasing Lens (NAIL) and Near-field Sca...
